If you enjoy the outdoors, working with animals and driving farm machinery, then dairy farming is for you! Dairy farming in New Zealand is a great way to build a career and wealth. The Destination Dairy training programme is designed to help you get ahead of the competition and fast-track you into positions of responsibility. You will graduate with a full skill set in dairying plus a thorough knowledge of the technology that makes our dairy industry a world beater. About the CourseDestination Dairy is a 44 week training programme introducing students to dairy farming and is based on farms in the Waikato region. During your training you will enhance your ability to live and work with others, communicate effectively, develop skills in budgeting and set goals for yourself. These qualities are important in gaining the skills and confidence to set you up for your future dairy farming career. National QualificationsAgriculture New Zealand is a Private Training Establishment (PTE), owned by PGG Wrightson, accredited with the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) to deliver approved training courses at levels 1−6 on the National Qualifications Framework.
Career DevelopmentDestination Dairy is a positive step towards your career in dairy farming. On completion, successful graduates may be offered employment on sponsor farm properties. Further training with the Agriculture ITO will give you the skills to run a farm and a business. The dairy industry has an excellent career structure that ensures you get rewarded for hard work. Your career could include herd management, farm management, contract milking or sharemilking. LeisureEach location provides many recreational activities for students, and has something to cater for everyone’s needs. We encourage students to participate in local sports and other activities during their own time, outside of course hours. Entry Criteria
What Does It Cost?Course fees are $2400. Scholarships to cover your course fee and a protective clothing allowance may be available upon application. You also may be eligible for a student allowance and/or loan through StudyLink. Interested?
