Why should you attend a course?
Farming and horticulture are dangerous occupations. If during your working day you operate a tractor you may be at risk of being involved in a serious accident. Currently one farmer is killed every three weeks and eleven farmers are seriously injured every day on New Zealand farms.
What will you learn?
This course will assist you to keep yourself and others safe when you operate a tractor and will include the following Unit Standards:
- Describe the legal requirements and occupational hazards associated with tractor use
- Check and drive a basic wheel tractor on flat terrain
- Drive a wheel tractor with an attached implement on flat terrain
- Drive a wheel tractor on undulating terrain
- Other Farm Safety Courses available
Course delivery
Each course is delivered by specialist tutors who facilitate excellent learning opportunities using a variety of techniques including:

- Costs are set on an annual basis, and are available by contactingAgriculture New Zealand.
- Corporate rates may be available for large groups.
- Discounts may be available if you attend more than one of our farm safety courses
What qualifications can you gain?
This course allows you to gain credits towards a National Certificate in Farming Skills (Farm Safety) (Level 2) and may contribute towards other National Qualifications.
